Job summary

NC State University in Raleigh, NC seeks a Temporary Ask Us Library Technician to provide information and circulation services at service points, including virtual reference. The role supervises student assistants and ensures library policies are followed, while supporting a fast-paced, high-technology research library environment.

The incumbent will assist in opening/closing procedures, assist patrons with technology, and help ensure safe operation of computing resources.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a library.
• Demonstrated public service experience in an academic setting.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
• Familiarity with library resources, research tools, and online systems.
• Ability to foster welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Ask Us Technician in Libraries Access Services.
• Supervise Student Assistants; ensure policies followed.
• Provide virtual and in-person reference assistance for faculty, students, and staff.
• Monitor and troubleshoot patron computing and printing tools.
• Maintain safety and security of people and materials in a high-volume library.
• Use independent judgment to enhance user experiences.
