Responsibilities
- Perform work specified on the repair order efficiently and in accordance with dealership standards
- Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
- Communicate directly with the Service Advisor to inform customers of additional services needed, provide recommendations, and estimate repair times
- Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications
- Follow all GM and Dealership instructions and policies
- Diagnose and repair vehicle components to factory specs, including electrical systems, AC systems, modules, brakes, hydraulics, and advanced fuel ignition systems
- Participate in ongoing technical training onsite and offsite to stay compliant with GM and dealership policies
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Lift heavy objects greater than 50 lbs.
- Document all work accurately to ensure compliance with GM dealership policies
- Assist other technicians when needed and be a team player
- Thoroughly QC all work prior to vehicle delivery
- Adhere to company safety guidelines
Qualifications
- Previous experience at an automotive dealership
- Varied years of experience depending on the position
- Dexterity and steady hand-eye coordination
- Mechanical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Team player with effective collaboration skills
- Willingness to learn new technology, procedures, and specifications
- Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
- Valid, current, non-suspended driver's license
- Willing to submit to pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Highly motivated with a positive attitude
- Ability to stand for long periods and work in environments with chemicals, odors, dust, and inclement weather
