Job summary

Pep Boys is seeking a qualified Automotive Technician to professionally inspect, diagnose and repair tire and automotive services while delivering an excellent customer experience. The role emphasizes explaining repairs, continuous learning, and mentoring co-workers in a safe, organized shop environment.

The candidate will join a standards-driven team with flexible hours. Required are a high school diploma or GED, 1+ year of automotive experience, and valid driver's license; ASE and 609

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of automotive diagnostic/repair experience.
• Preferred: 2+ ASE certifications (A4, A5).
• Section 609 certification preferred.
• State Inspection license if applicable.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Pre-employment background check.
• Ability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications — brake/hydraulic, exhaust, electrical, cooling, suspension and alignment; perform maintenance services.
• Perform duties of lower roles (Mechanic/General Service Technician).
• Explain diagnoses and repairs to non-technicals as needed.
• Continuously learn new automotive tech info and techniques in training sessions.
• Assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities.
• Keep management informed of repair problems as they occur.
• Maintain an organized and neat shop.
• Adhere to all company policies, safety and environmental rules.
