Job summary

Kentwood Public Schools is seeking an Autism Spectrum Disorder Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The role designs and delivers ASD-specific instruction, develops IEPs, and coordinates with staff to support student growth and independence in a dynamic school setting.

The teacher will differentiate instruction, integrate technology, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with district and Michigan requirements, while maintaining strong parent partnerships and crisis-intervention readiness.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certification required.
• Special Education endorsement in ASD preferred, or willingness to add ASD.
• Must meet Michigan Professional Development requirements.
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred.
• CPI, CPR, and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students based on evaluations and best practices.
• Support learning in least restrictive environment.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
• Document progress on goals, accommodations, and services.
• Collaborate with general education and other staff for evaluation data and implementations.
• Provide support to general education teachers and implement behavior plans.
• Maintain monthly Medicaid Service Capture reporting and documentation.
• Communicate regularly with parents via calls, emails, and home visits.
• Participate in IEP meetings, Parent/Teacher Conferences, and related meetings.
