Job summary

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a ParaEducator at Beagle Middle School. This full-time position is designed for someone who is passionate about supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in their educational journey. The ParaEducator will work closely with teachers and other staff members to create an inclusive and supportive environment that fosters the academic, social, and emotional development of students with ASD.



Responsibilities


  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with ASD.

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, facilitating learning and engagement in academic activities.

  • Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation, reporting relevant information to teachers and specialists.

  • Support students in developing social skills and fostering positive interactions with peers.

  • Help create and maintain a structured and positive classroom environment that promotes learning and respect.

  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to ensure effective communication and support for students.

  • Assist in the implementation of behavioral management strategies and interventions as outlined in IEPs.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or school administration.



Requirements


  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or higher in education, psychology, or a related field preferred.

  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder or similar special needs is highly desirable.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being able to take initiative when needed.

  • Familiarity with IEPs and special education practices is a plus.

  • Must pass background checks and any required training or certification relevant to working with students with disabilities.

  • Proficient in basic computer skills and willingness to learn new technologies as needed.
