Qualifications

• Responsible for identification and processing of all tissue specimens.
• Assists pathologists with gross examination and specimen handling.
• Performs histological staining and prepares slides for microscopic review.

Responsibilities

• Identify and process all tissue specimens with correct accessioning and patient data.
• Provide labeled tissue cassettes and prepare for processing under the pathologist's direction.
• Section, stain, and deliver slides for daily microscopic examination.
• Assist with frozen section preparation as required by the pathologist.
• Perform special histochemical stains within requested timeframes.
• Prepare materials for referral to other labs when needed.
• File and archive slides and blocks for storage and retrieval.
