Job summary

Memorial Health is seeking a Histology Technician to participate in daily preparation of routine and special histology procedures, including gross examination, fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy and staining. You may study histotechnology and pursue ASCP certification after one year of on-the-job experience.

Qualifications include 60 college hours or an Associate’s degree with biology/chemistry coursework; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

Minimum of 60 semester hours of college level coursework or Associate’s degree with 12 biology/chemistry coursework required
Bachelor’s degree with 12 semester hour requirement fulfilled is preferred
Basic laboratory skills required and ASCP certification pathway possible after training

Responsibilities

Perform routine and non-routine preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation by a pathologist
Include specimen accessioning, grossing, frozen sectioning, embedding, microtomy and staining
Utilize LIS system and other computer systems to perform duties and document actions
Sort and assign cases to pathologists and maintain equipment
Adhere to quality control policies and regulatory requirements
