Position Overview

The ASB Advisor leads and supports the Associated Student Body (ASB) program, promoting student leadership, school culture, and engagement across grades. This position works closely with student leaders to plan and implement activities, events, and fundraisers that enhance the overall student experience.

The advisor ensures all ASB activities operate in alignment with district policies, financial procedures, and Washington State guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Advise and support the ASB Student Council, including facilitating meetings and leadership development.
  • Guide students in planning and implementing school events, activities, and assemblies.
  • Oversee major events such as homecoming, dances, assemblies, and school-wide activities.
  • Coordinate ASB elections and ensure fair and consistent election procedures.
  • Support the development and annual review of the ASB constitution and student leadership structure.
Financial Oversight & Fundraising
  • Oversee ASB budget development in collaboration with student leaders.
  • Monitor and approve ASB expenditures and fundraising activities.
  • Ensure compliance with district and state ASB financial and cash-handling procedures.
  • Coordinate with office staff to ensure accurate deposits, recordkeeping, and reconciliation.
  • Support and/or oversee concessions and event-related revenue activities as needed.
Program & Activity Coordination
  • Supervise and support student clubs and organizations to ensure compliance with ASB guidelines.
  • Assist students in developing and submitting proposals for new clubs and activities.
  • Coordinate event logistics including scheduling, supervision, and communication.
  • Ensure appropriate supervision and safety measures are in place for all ASB-sponsored events.
  • Communicate school activities and events with students, staff, and the community.
Student Support & Leadership Development
  • Promote student voice, leadership skills, and positive school culture.
  • Support students in organizing events, managing responsibilities, and problem-solving.
  • Provide guidance on teamwork, accountability, and school expectations.
Additional Duties
  • Chaperone student events and activities as needed.
  • Assist with planning and supervision of dances and large school events.
  • Collaborate with administration and staff to support school initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned related to student activities and leadership.
Qualifications
  • Valid Washington State teaching certificate preferred.
  • Experience working with student leadership, activities, or extracurricular programs preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple events and responsibilities throughout the school year.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn ASB financial and activity guidelines.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and community members.
Working Conditions
  • Requires flexibility beyond the regular school day, including evenings and occasional weekends.
  • Additional time required for event planning, supervision, and summer preparation.
