Swoon is actively seeking a AS400/iSeries, IT Manger to join the team!
What your day-to-day will look like?
- Oversee and support all in-house IT systems and platforms including, the company website, claims processing, and underwriting systems—ensuring seamless integration, uptime, and performance across the AS400-based environment.
- Provide technical leadership and hands-on oversight of AS400 operations, C# application development, and HTML-based web systems, troubleshooting issues, managing enhancements, and ensuring system stability and scalability.
- Manage day-to-day IT infrastructure operations including hardware, software, networking, security, backups, vendor coordination, and resolution of escalated technical issues impacting business users or agents.
- Lead and develop the IT team by setting performance expectations, prioritizing initiatives, monitoring KPIs and budgets, coaching staff, and driving continuous process improvement aligned to business objectives.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and department heads (claims, underwriting, operations) to align IT strategy with organizational goals, implement policy and process improvements, and support long-term growth and operational efficiency.
What’s Required? / Technical Skills
- Deep technical expertise in AS400/iSeries environments (required) — including advanced proficiency in RPG/LE (Free-format), SQLRPGLE, CL programming, and strong hands‑on experience working with DB2 physical files and data analysis
- Strong application development background — demonstrated experience working with C# and HTML in support of enterprise systems and web‑based applications.
- Proven IT leadership experience (10+ years required) — leading IT teams, managing departmental operations, driving strategy, overseeing budgets, and aligning technology initiatives with business objectives.
- Broad infrastructure knowledge — working understanding of networking, Windows, and Linux environments, along with strong competency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills — ability to translate business needs into technical solutions, manage complex projects, build strong stakeholder relationships, and lead with integrity and professionalism.
