Job summary

The San Mateo County Event Center is a public assembly facility and a full-service food operation. The concessions cook will produce visually appealing, good-tasting food to SMCEC standards for events and customers. This is an as-needed position with event-driven scheduling and no regular hours.

Strong cooking skills, knowledge of food safety, and a passion for quality service are required. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential to meet event demands.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, season, and cook menu items following SMCEC recipes and guidelines.
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients; oversee basic prep like slicing meats and vegetables.
• Check food quality by sight, taste, and temperature per safety standards.
• Monitor and adjust ovens, fryers, grills, and kitchen equipment.
• Keep concession stand products stocked and merchandised.
• Maintain clean and organized prep areas per standards.
• Support team as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
