Job summary

Connect Tech+Talent seeks an experienced AS/400 technical specialist to support a 12-month contract in Oklahoma City. You will modify and optimize legacy RPG/CL applications and ensure secure, reliable operation in a hosted Ensono environment.

The role emphasizes deep DB2 for i expertise, batch and job scheduler management, and collaboration with hosting providers to coordinate patches, backups, and DR testing. Strong documentation and regulatory change adaptation are essential.

Qualifications

Minimum five years of hands-on AS400 (IBM i) development and support.
Proficient in RPG IV, RPGLE, CL, and SQL on DB2 for i.
Experience coordinating with hosted AS400 environments and providers like Ensono.
Experience in IBM i work management, subsystems, and security.
Experience with FTP/SFTP file transfers and external integrations.

Responsibilities

Maintain, modify, and optimize legacy RPG/CL programs.
Troubleshoot operational bugs and batch issues.
Update logic for regulatory changes and licensing requirements.
Coordinate with hosting provider for maintenance, OS patching, and environment changes.
Manage application security configurations and audit logs.
Manage local job queues, subsystems, and schedulers.
Coordinate with storage/backup teams for DR testing and restoration verifications.
Query, manage, and tune DB2 for i databases; optimize SQL and indexes.
Support secure file transfers and interfaces to external systems.
Archive legacy data with state DB admins and cloud architects.
Document system flows, schemas, and interdependencies for cloud transition.
