Job summary

Whole Foods Market, Inc. is seeking a Bakery Decorator in Los Angeles to craft and decorate cakes, tarts, and pastries, delivering visually appealing specialty items that meet our quality standards and food safety practices.

You will guide Apprentice decorators, assist customers, keep a clean, organized workspace, and handle opening, mid, and closing duties. A 6–12 month relevant experience and ability to lift 50 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–12 months retail or restaurant experience.
• Complete the Bakery Decorator Apprentice training program, or equivalent experience.
• Prior experience within a professional bakery or grocery retail, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, select pastry, and special-order bakery items.
• Build, ice, and decorate cakes and other bakery items following standard procedures and maintain production records.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Merchandise and showcase products in the display case and monitor freshness and rotation.
• Provide guidance and support for Bakery Decorator Apprentices and other Team Members.
• Create special order cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Provide excellent customer service and manage inquiries, phones and pages promptly.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment and comply with safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties and ensure pricing accuracy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
