Job summary

Salamander Resort & Spa in Middleburg, VA, invites applications for a Pastry Cook I. The role focuses on preparing pastries, desserts, breads, and breakfast pastries for a Forbes Five-Star luxury dining environment. You will work with our culinary team to produce high-quality items for fine dining, banquets, and catering.

Ideal candidates have pastry or baking experience, preferably in luxury hospitality. AM/PM shifts, weekends and holidays required; join a team delivering exceptional guest

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Pastry, baking, or professional pastry kitchen experience preferred.
• Experience in luxury hotel/resort or fine dining environment highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of pastry production and baking techniques.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present high-quality pastries, desserts, and breads for fine dining, banquets, weddings, and catering.
• Bake daily artisan breads and breakfast pastries for service.
• Assist with plating and presentation for lunch and dinner service.
• Maintain food presentation, quality, and portion control; minimize waste.
• Ensure proper storage, labeling, dating and rotation following FIFO.
• Keep pastry kitchen clean and sanitary per ServSafe and HACCP guidelines.
• Clean and maintain mixers, ovens, slicers, and food processors.
• Cross-train across the culinary department and participate in seasonal menu changes.
