Job summary

Scripps College is hiring a full-time Baker in Claremont, CA. The role involves preparing breads, pastries and desserts, following recipes and product directions, and maintaining kitchen safety and cleanliness throughout shifts.

The position requires standing for long periods, knowledge of baking equipment, and flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed. The schedule runs Saturday through Tuesday 11:00–19:30 and Wednesday 09:00–17:30, with potential summer duties in the Facilities

Qualifications

• Education & experience providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities for general Food Service work.
• Ability to read and follow recipes and HACCP guidelines with PPE compliance.
• Current California Food Handler’s Card per state law.

Responsibilities

• Prepare breads, pastries and desserts following recipes and directions.
• Mix ingredients and form dough, mold into shapes, and bake in ovens.
• Decorate and portion baked goods; set up and maintain serving lines.
• Maintain cleanliness; track production and requisition supplies as needed.
• Assist in training staff and supporting College dining operations.
