Job summary

The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University invites applications for a full-time Baker (0.75 FTE) to support residential dining, catering, and retail programs. You will design recipes, perform quality checks, and enhance presentation with icing and decorations, while also handling customer orders and maintaining a clean, well-stocked bakery.

Reporting to the Director of Bakery Operations, you will join a values-driven team focused on safety, service, and community.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional baking training preferred.
• Minimum of 9 months of experience as a baker.
• Understanding of metric and imperial measurement systems.
• Ability to operate commercial bakery equipment safely.
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for quality.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
• ServSafe Certification is preferred. Obtain within one year of employment.
• Ability to work flexible schedule including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare breads and desserts such as cookies, bars, fruit breads, and specialty items.
• Monitor ingredient ratios and ensure consistent product quality.
• Display, serve, and store baked goods to maintain freshness and appeal.
• Oversee baking processes, oven management, and cooking times.
• Follow health and safety guidelines; maintain clean, safe workstation.
• Maintain production records and operate industrial bakery equipment.
• Assist with timely delivery for residential, retail, and catering operations.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflows.
