Job summary

Acceler8 Talent in San Mateo, CA is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to build production AI agents with planning, reasoning, retrieval, and decision-making. You will work across Python, LLMs, distributed systems and backend infrastructure to ship reliable AI products for enterprise customers.

The role offers a hybrid schedule (2–5 days/week) with base compensation of $250,000–$350,000 plus equity, targeting engineers who have shipped AI agents and RAG-based solutions for real users.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience.
• Hands-on with AI agents and enterprise-scale systems preferred.
• Strong Python and backend engineering skills.

We’re partnering with a high-growth AI startup building production AI agents that automate complex enterprise data engineering. Their platform is already trusted by some of the world’s largest enterprises, and they’re expanding their AI engineering team.

What You’ll Do

• Build production AI agents with planning, reasoning, retrieval, and decision-making
• Develop RAG pipelines, vector search, and knowledge graph systems
• Improve agent quality through evals, hallucination mitigation, and production monitoring
• Work across Python, LLMs, distributed systems, and backend infrastructure

What They’re Looking For

• 4+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong Python and backend engineering skills
• Experience shipping production AI agents, RAG, coding agents, or LLM-powered products
