Job summary

Grandview School District is seeking an Arthur H. Smith Counseling Assistant to support the Principal and Counselor at A.H. Smith Elementary.

This temporary role runs through 10/12/2026 with 180 work days annually and offers several benefits. The position involves administrative tasks, data gathering, collaboration on meetings and professional development, and assisting with student assessments and progress monitoring in small groups.

Qualifications

What You'll be Doing:

• Supports the Principal and Counselor by assisting with administrative functions.
• In collaboration with the school counselor, attends meetings, training, workshops, and professional development to ensure skills and knowledge remain up to date.
• Gathers, organizes, and obtains pertinent data as needed to support the school counselor.
• Assists the counselor with student assessments and standardized testing (local, state, federal) to provide an efficient and effective testing experience for students.
• Under the direction of the Principal and Counselor, helps monitor students' academic and social-emotional progress to assist the counselor in small group settings with students.

What We Offer:

• Salary: $19.25- $25.27per hour (depending on experience)

What You'll Need:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience: Job related experienceis desired.
• Minimum qualifications: Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent. Must meet the minimum requirement for a paraprofessional(Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university, have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university or have passed the state paraeducator assessment). Bilingual preferred.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and some fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 34% sitting, 33% walking, and 33% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
