Job summary

Iteris, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Engineer - Arterial Operations to manage daily arterial program activities per MUTCD and FDOT protocols. The role requires expertise in timing plans, real-time signal operations, and interagency coordination at the RTMC, with field reviews as needed.

You will monitor ITS infrastructure, refine signal timings, prepare performance reports, and support CAV initiatives while collaborating with IT and maintenance staff to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in an engineering discipline or STEM field.
  • State of Florida Engineering Intern certificate.
  • Minimum two years of experience with traffic signal operation and central software systems.
  • Knowledge of traffic signal analysis programs and ITS engineering principles.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Actively monitor arterial ITS infrastructure and analyze data to improve operations.
  • Develop, update, and maintain signal timing information.
  • Guide Arterials Operators to implement real-time signal changes.
  • Conduct field reviews to evaluate and resolve signal issues.
  • Implement and monitor diversion/evacuation route timings.
  • Prepare system performance reports.
  • Track and respond to system alarms to minimize downtime.
  • Keep dashboards updated and enhance them with new technologies or FDOT direction.
  • Coordinate with IT and maintenance staff to resolve device issues.
  • Support CAV technology implementation and related applications.
  • Assist FDOT consultants and staff with retiming efforts.
  • Prepare monthly performance reports based on MOEs.
