Job summary

Volunteers of America - Greater New York, Inc. is seeking an Art Therapist to help residents overcome emotional and behavioral difficulties caused by trauma from domestic violence.

You will guide residents through artistic expression and provide age-appropriate therapy, including crisis intervention when required. The role requires a Master’s degree in art therapy with LP-CAT/LCAT licensure and at least two years of relevant experience, with a focus on trauma-informed care and person-centered

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in art therapy with LP-CAT/LCAT license and 2 years experience with domestic violence victims.
• Experience with victims of domestic violence required.
• Ability to provide age-appropriate art therapy to children when applicable.

Responsibilities

• Meet with residents to arrange art therapy sessions and activities.
• Provide age-appropriate art therapy to children when applicable.
• Guide clients through the creative process and encourage expression of feelings.
• Maintain a wellness and recovery-oriented environment using person-first language and evidence-based practices.
• Coordinate referrals to social services when needed for transition into the community.
• Provide crisis intervention when needed.
