Volunteers of America–Greater New York seeks an Art Therapist to help residents overcome emotional and behavioral difficulties caused by trauma through the artistic process. This role supports residents of Victory I, a DV program, in healing and rebuilding their lives on-site with comprehensive services and housing.

We require a Master’s degree with LP-CAT or LCAT and at least 2 years of experience working with domestic violence survivors.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree and LP-CAT or License (LCAT) in art therapy or psychotherapy.
• 2 years of experience working with victims of domestic violence and their families.
• Ability to provide age-appropriate art therapy to children when applicable.

Responsabilités

• Meet with residents to arrange art therapy sessions and activities.
• Provide age-appropriate art therapy to children when applicable.
• Guide clients through the creative process and encourage them to express feelings to promote healing.
• Create a wellness and recovery-oriented environment using respectful documentation and person-centered planning.
• Provide referrals to social service agencies when needed for residents transitioning into the community.
• Provide crisis intervention to clients when needed.

Formation
