Job summary

The City of Aurora is seeking an Art Instructor to teach visual arts classes and related events for youth and adults as part of Aurora Cultural Arts. You will design lessons, deliver engaging instruction, and help students explore creativity in a supportive environment.

This part-time role supports diverse learners, collaborates with staff to plan programs, maintains records, and upholds safety and inclusivity. Hours are under 29 hours/week with no medical benefits.

Qualifications

• A four-year degree in Fine Arts or related field or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 1 year teaching drawing, watercolor, painting or other art forms.
• Experience delivering lesson plans to youth and adult students.
• Preferred: 2 years teaching experience; experience across multiple art mediums.
• Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with staff to set goals for classes and programs.
• Creates, plans and delivers lesson plans for diverse ages and skill levels.
• Prepares course materials that support objectives and student-driven goals; assesses progress.
• Engages with students and parents about ongoing programs.
• Maintains student records and supports classroom logistics.
• Maintains a safe, organized classroom.
• Communicates progress to students, parents and staff.
• Supports inclusive and respectful instructional environment.
• Performs other related duties.
