Qualifications

• Must be a degree-seeking graduate student at JSU.
• Active enrollment in a graduate degree program at JSU during the assistantship.
• If new, admitted to a degree program.
• Enrollment in required coursework towards the degree; GA funds depend on plan.
• Must maintain minimum GPA for the program.
• Enrollment in 6–9 graduate hours in fall/spring; may vary in summer.
• Must not hold another campus job.
• No other tuition scholarships or waivers while GA.
• If previously a GA, must have fulfilled duties and policies.
• Prefer not to teach while taking a class in summer without permission.
• Requests should be sent via e-mail.
• FERPA and Sexual Harassment training, and other required trainings.
• International grads must be certified by Director of Graduate Studies.

Responsibilities

• Performs a combination of duties under supervision of faculty and lab supervisor.
• Assists Art faculty and lab supervisors in preparation and clean-up.
• Serves as lab instructor.
• Assists in logging and processing course materials, assignments, papers, and internship materials.
• Assists in research-related tasks including library and online sources.
• Performs clerical and other duties as assigned.
