Job summary

Pocahontas County Schools seeks a qualified Art/CTE Long-term Substitute at Green Bank Elementary Middle School. The incumbent will provide high-quality instruction aligned with state standards and support students’ academic and social development.

The role requires WV long-term substitute certification, district approvals, and adherence to board policies. Contract extends through the 2026-2027 year or until the regular teacher returns.

Qualifications

• Valid West Virginia Long-Term Substitute Permit.
• Must be properly endorsed in the area required for the assigned position in accordance with West Virginia Department of Education certification and permit requirements.
• Must be an approved substitute teacher for Pocahontas County Schools.
• Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-10.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates current knowledge of content, curriculum, instructional best practices, and applicable state standards; adapts instruction to diverse learners.
• Designs and implements engaging, standards-based instruction that promotes critical thinking and student engagement.
• Designs formative and summative assessments aligned with objectives and uses data to guide instruction.
• Provides differentiated, inclusive instruction to meet varied student needs and supports student development.
• Collaborates with administrators, counselors, interventionists, and staff to support student success and school improvement initiatives.
