Job summary

YMCA of Greater New York is seeking an Activity Specialist: Art for the Staten Island South Shore YMCA. This part-time role involves delivering age-appropriate art instruction within the Y Afterschool program and Holiday Camps, creating a safe, engaging space for school-age children to learn and grow.

You will plan lessons, assess progress, and support students’ creative and literacy development while upholding OCFS/DOH and YMCA standards in a collaborative team setting.

Qualifications

Minimum of two years in art programming or related field.
Direct experience working with children under 13.
Content expert in designated subject matter; strong literacy and numeracy basics.

Responsibilities

Design a comprehensive art curriculum with measurable goals.
Lead daily art activities in a safe, inclusive environment.
Manage materials, logistics, and safety for art projects.
Prepare for end-of-cycle student showcase and display pieces.
Collaborate with program staff and school partners to meet standards.
