Job summary

The La Central YMCA is seeking an Activity Specialist to support the Y Afterschool program, delivering safe, enriching art experiences for school‑aged children and guiding their creativity.

Under the supervision of the Program Director, you will design a project‑based art curriculum, lead daily activities, assess progress, ensure safety, collaborate with staff and families, and help prepare an end‑of‑cycle art showcase.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• College credits and formal education in a related field preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience in art programming.
• Direct experience working with children under 13.
• Content expert in the designated subject matter.
• General knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Design a comprehensive art curriculum with clear goals.
• Plan, facilitate, and supervise art-based activities.
• Prepare materials and ensure safety for all art projects.
• Assist in securing equipment and supplies as needed.
• Track participant progress and organize end‑of‑cycle showcase.
