Job summary

U.S. Army General Surgeons lead the way in a world-class military health care team. As a General Surgeon, you will examine, diagnose, consult, and perform surgeries for Soldiers and their families, while advancing surgical innovations and patient care within the Army Medical Department.

This role offers opportunities for ongoing education, training, and collaboration with fellow surgeons, with service options that include Active Duty and Army Reserve commitments.

Qualifications

• Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy.
• Must have a current medical license to practice in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico.
• Must be eligible for board certification or board-certified.
• Must have completed at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship.
• Must have completed a training program in general surgery.
• Must be a U.S. citizen to serve on Active Duty.
• Must have a permanent U.S. residency for Army Reserve.

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, consult, and prescribe treatment.
• Perform surgeries for Soldiers, retirees, and their families.
• Participate in continuing education programs, trainings, seminars and conferences.
