Qualifications

• Must have an MD or DO from an accredited U.S. medical school.
• Foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
• Must hold a current license to practice medicine in the United States (DC or PR also acceptable).
• Must be eligible for board certification.
• Must have completed at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship.
• Must have completed a training program in general surgery.
• Must be a U.S. citizen to serve on Active Duty.
• Must have permanent U.S. residency for Army Reserve.

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, consult, and prescribe treatments; perform surgeries for Soldiers, retirees and their family members.
• Participate in continued education programs, trainings, seminars and conferences to learn, grow and collaborate with fellow general surgeons for the benefit of patients and the Army.
