Job summary

U.S. Army General Surgeons lead the way in a world‑class military health care team, delivering patient care across a broad range of surgical procedures for Soldiers, retirees and families.

As part of the Army Medical Corps, surgeons advance medical practice through regenerative medicine and advanced planning with 3‑D models, while pursuing ongoing education and collaborations with peers. Active Duty service supports humanitarian missions and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. medical school
• Current medical license to practice in the United States, DC or Puerto Rico
• U.S. citizenship to serve on Active Duty
• Board certification or eligibility in general surgery
• Completion of at least one year of approved GME internship
• Completed training in general surgery

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, consult and prescribe treatment for patients
• Perform surgical procedures for Soldiers, retirees and family members
• Participate in continued education, trainings, seminars and conferences
• Contribute to medical education and leadership development within the Army Medical Corps
