Job summary

APSI is seeking an Armed Security Guard for New London, CT. The role involves fixed-post, mobile, and foot patrols, enforcing post orders, and maintaining situational awareness to protect client facilities.

Shifts may include full-time, part-time, or on-call. Applicants must hold a state-issued Guard card and pass pre-hire screening. Excellent English communication and physical stamina are required.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 2 years security/civilian law enforcement experience OR US Armed Forces.
• Language: Must be fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Pre-Hire Screening: Must pass criminal background screen, drug test and physical exam.
• Certifications: State-issued Guard card before being hired.

Responsibilities

• Monitor alarms, radio traffic and other information sources; dispatch or inform others as needed and authorized.
• Report and address fire alarms, burglar alarms, requests for assistance and criminal acts; including vandalism, theft, illegal entry or entry attempts.
• Stop, screen, and inspect vehicles and pedestrians entering and exiting the facility as directed by post orders.
• Escort individuals or vehicles in accordance with post orders and protocols.
• Use portable radios, phones, or other communication devices according to established rules.
• Monitor APSI and client equipment; guard against loss or damage and report it immediately.
• Log Property Pass numbers for authorized movements and maintain logs as required.
