Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a part-time Security Officer – Enhanced at our Houston site. The role offers fixed anchors with potential to earn more by picking up shifts and working up to 40 hours weekly when needed.

The position requires a Texas Level III Armed Certification, 21+ years old, a valid driver’s license, and a background check. Pay rate is $22.00 per hour with opportunities for additional shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of combined law enforcement, corrections, and/or military experience, or five years armed security experience.
• Valid Texas Level III Armed Certification (Armed)
• Must be 21+ years old and able to pass background check and drug screen.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, customers, and store staff while enforcing site procedures and emergency response actions.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, disturbances, and critical situations calmly and professionally, escalating per site protocol.
• Conduct regular armed patrols of the retail location, including entrances, parking, loading zones, and perimeters.
• Monitor for suspicious activity and potential loss prevention issues; document observations and communicate with site personnel.
• Maintain professional conduct and comply with laws, company policies, and equipment use-of-force guidelines.

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment ("Anchor Shifts"): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.


• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick-up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to clients, customers, and store associates while carrying out site‑specific security‑related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.


• Respond to incidents, alarms, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, escalating matters according to site procedures.


• Conduct regular and random armed patrols throughout the retail location, including sales areas, entrances, parking areas, loading zones, and perimeter areas, as assigned.


• Monitor for unusual activity, potential loss prevention concerns, and other security‑related issues; document observations and communicate them to appropriate personnel.


• Maintain professional conduct and follow applicable laws, company policies, and site requirements regarding assigned equipment and use of force.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess at least three years of combined law enforcement, corrections, and/or military experience, or at least five years of armed security‑related experience.


• A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.


• Possess a Level III Armed Certification in Texas.


• Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.


• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.


• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.


• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.


• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.


• Participate in industry‑specific security training programs.


• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.


• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
