Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a dedicated Security Officer for the 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM shift at UAB St. Vincent's St.Clair.

You will provide security services, respond to threats, investigate incidents, and support staff and visitors to promote a safe environment. A High School diploma or equivalent and AL driver’s license are required; BLS certification within 30 days and a concealed carry permit are mandatory in-state prerequisites.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required or within 1 month of hire.
• Concealed carry permit required in-state (AL).
• Valid Alabama Driver's License required.
• Security professional experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide security services to ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors.
• Monitor for and respond to security threats in a proactive manner.
• Investigate, document and manage security incidents and hazards.
• Follow alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness plans; assist with drills.
• Assist staff and visitors to promote safety and safety compliance.

Job Description

Provide security services to ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors.

• Perform proactive monitoring of and timely responses to potential/actual security threats.
• Investigate, document and manage security incidents and hazards.
• Maintain knowledge/follows policies and procedures regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness plans. May facilitate planned drills and simulations.
• Provide information and assistance to staff and visitors to promote safety.
• Operates in a safe and responsible manner to avoid accidents and traffic or parking violations.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• In state (Alabama) concealed carry weapons permit required.
• Drivers License credentialed from the Alabama Department of Motor Vehicles required.
• Security Professional preferred.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
