Job Description
Reporting to the Armed Security Guard Supervisor, the Armed Security Guard is responsible for conducting armed and/or unarmed foot and/or vehicle patrols (interior and/or exterior). Additional duties include controlling access and egress; monitoring CCTV and alarm systems; composing reports; and deterring criminal activity and misconduct.
Note: This role requires holding an NRC Q-clearance or a Top Secret clearance, and maintaining site access eligibility.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Monitor for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
- Sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or unauthorized persons.
- Warn violators of infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
- Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits.
- Observe departing personnel to prevent theft and ensure proper property removal.
- Investigate and report accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain logs.
- Assist customers, employees, and visitors courteously and professionally.
- Make emergency notifications as per site Post Orders.
- Provide security recommendations to management.
- Suggest improvements for physical security surveys and post orders.
- Handle multiple assignments effectively, demonstrating initiative and managing deadlines.
Basic Qualifications, Education, And Experience
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must possess or obtain a US NRC/DOE Q-clearance or DOD Top Secret clearance.
- Must pass the NC Armed Private Protection Services Board (PPSB) course if not already completed.
- At least 21 years old.
- Must have relevant military or law enforcement experience, or related education (e.g., law enforcement or criminal justice degree), or extensive military service.
- Post-offer, must pass psychological and security profile tests if required.
- Flexible to work various shifts and overtime.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and security management technology.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
- Ability to operate in a variety of environmental conditions and handle stressful situations professionally.
Physical/Mental Requirements and Environment
- Regularly use hands, stand, sit, and communicate verbally.
- Walk, stand, reach, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Perform duties in varied weather conditions and environments.
- Maintain focus, prioritize tasks, and manage stress effectively.
