Description

Strategic Security (SSC) is a nationwide leading provider of security guard services, executive protection, bomb dog, intelligence, consulting, and investigative services. As an Armed Security Officer, you will be responsible for performing the following duties within an armed capacity:

Office Security
- Arrive punctually and patrol premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and interior.
- Answer and investigate disturbances. Contact law enforcement or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire, presence of unauthorized persons, and/or disturbances within the office. Please note, all law enforcement interactions should be used at discretion. However, all interactions should be reported to the Office Manager(s) immediately.
- Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft, vandalism, incidents, and maintain security of premises.
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Conduct regular patrols of the office premises to ensure safety and detect any unusual activities.
- Ensure that all security equipment (e.g., alarms, surveillance cameras, security wands) is functioning properly.
- Respond promptly to security alarms and incidents, following established protocols.
- Maintain a log of all security-related activities and incidents. This information should be shared with the office management team daily.

Crowd Control
- Warn persons of rule infractions or violations and use the necessary measures to protect staff and the facility.
- Manage and control the flow of people entering and exiting the office premises. This function will also include circulation among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
- Ensure that visitors follow the proper procedures for entry, including sign-in processes and identification verification.
- Prevent overcrowding in the office lobby and other common areas by directing visitors to appropriate waiting areas and staff.
- Assist in the coordination of evacuations and emergency responses, ensuring safe and orderly movement of people.

Customer Interaction
- Greet customers upon arrival and assist with general inquiries to include presenting the Customer Inquiry Form. All further interactions must be redirected to the Child Support staff for assistance.
- Direct customers to the appropriate division staff for program-specific information and assistance.
- Contact division staff members to address specific customer needs and ensure smooth communication between customers and staff.

Liaison Duties
- Officers should notify the Operations team for their Security company of all tardies and or absences.
- Maintain a clear line of communication with the division’s staff to promptly address customer needs and security concerns.
- Report any security issues or unusual activities to the appropriate staff members immediately.
- Ensure that all visitors adhere to office policies and procedures.

Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay updated on security protocols and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with other security personnel and office staff to ensure a safe and secure environment.

Qualifications

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Pass a State licensing test if driving a company-owned or client-provided vehicle
  • Pass and possess a State Licensed Unarmed Security Guard Card/License if required by your State/City/Locality

Experience Required

Verifiable work history if previously employed and must possess one or more of the following:

  • Graduate of an accredited high school or a Certificate of Completion of General Education Development requirements; and meet one of the following experience/education requirements:
  • Experience of 1 year as a security officer strongly preferred

  • Must be able to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
  • Must have demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
  • Must be warm, engaging, charismatic; and possess a natural ability to develop rapport with others in an authentic and sincere manner
  • Must practice good judgment; high level of integrity
  • Must be proactive; take initiative with minimal supervision
  • Must be resourceful; think critically and find solutions even without the obvious resources
  • Must be able to navigate challenging situations while remaining positive
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military


Physical Requirements and Environment
Environment: Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat
Major activity: Walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing
Physical efforts to carry out job duties: Standing, walking, and sitting. Minimal to no stooping or kneeling.
