Advocate Health is seeking a Public Safety Officer I - Armed at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL. The role is full-time on a hybrid schedule with 1st/2nd shifts, typical hours ~05:30-18:00 and ~13:30-22:00, with a week rotation and alternating weekends off.

The position requires 1 year in security/public safety, relevant certifications, and the ability to de-escalate, communicate effectively, and coordinate with law enforcement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year experience in security or public safety.
• Must obtain CHSO certification within two years.
• Armed security license and firearms training required.
• Strong de-escalation, communication, and teamwork abilities.
• Background checks, drug screen, and physical/psych screening required.

Responsibilities

• Provide security with professional, compassionate service per policies.
• Maintain professional appearance and safety rules compliance.
• Conduct interior/exterior patrols; identify hazards and contraband.
• Respond to violent incidents; de-escalate and use force as needed.
• Coordinate with law enforcement and first responders; assist with crowd control.
• Prepare accurate incident reports and document investigations.
