Job summary

Piedmont Macon North is seeking a Security Officer to protect patients, staff, visitors, and property across a Piedmont facility. You will screen for weapons, maintain access control, and respond to emergencies with disciplined de-escalation techniques.

The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and adherence to all policies and laws. Required to have a high school diploma or GED and 2 years of general security or public safety experience with firearms, plus certifications as applicable.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years in general security or public safety with firearm carry required.
• Equivalence of training to demonstrate responsible handling of weapons and use of force.
• Possession of valid driver license, in-state; IAHSS certification within 1 year; ability to carry non-lethal weapons; company firearm; pre-employment psychological screening; ongoing training in firearms, taser, baton, and related safety requirements; POS T certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate Piedmont values and deliver excellent customer service to patients, staff, and visitors.
• Screen for and interdict weapons entering a facility.
• Maintain security of hospital, professional buildings, and parking areas.
• Perform incident documentation and initial investigation.
• Actively monitor at-risk patients and de-escalate difficult situations.
• Respond to aggressive behavior and apply physical restraints when needed.
• Make sound judgments when using force to provide a safe environment.
• Document activities in the medical record.
• Enforce all policies, regulations, and state/federal laws.
• Direct traffic when required; assist patients and visitors in emergencies; participate in crime prevention and secure work environment.
