Job summary

AGS, an Akima company, seeks an Armed Detention Officer for our detention facility in Guaynabo, PR. You will perform detention, processing, safeguarding, and transport duties, maintain order, enforce rules, and ensure care and custody of detainees.

The role requires previous law enforcement or security experience, US residency, a valid PR firearms license, and DHS/ICE clearance. You will conduct inspections, logbook entries, and assist at multiple facilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a law enforcement/officer or 2 years of college in a related field.
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident and residency in the U.S. for the last 5 years.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Pass criminal background and credit check (no criminal record).
• Obtain and maintain DHS/ICE government clearance.
• Pass pre-employment and random drug tests.
• Pass medical examination and health requirements.
• Age 21 or older.
• Valid state driver’s license and firearms license (PR).
• Maintenance of physical residency in PR.
• Maintain physical fitness standards for law enforcement/corrections.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and cross-cultural environments.
• Ability to greet and deal tactfully with the public.
• Good judgment, courage, alertness, even temperament.
• Ability to understand written/verbal orders in English, and write reports in English.
• Ability to handle emergencies calmly and effectively.
• Professional appearance and discretion with confidential information.
• Integrity, accountability, and adherence to National Detention Standards.

Responsibilities

• Detention, processing, safeguarding, security, escort and transport of detainees.
• Maintain order and discipline; enforce facility rules.
• Care, custody and control of detainees.
• Escort detainees and ensure safe transport.
• Respond to emergencies and maintain safety procedures.
• Record entries in transportation and processing logs.
• Conduct area security and sanitation checks.
• Inspect and maintain equipment and weapons.
• Ensure radios and communications are functional.
• Provide support to other sites as needed.
• Complete training and all job requirements.
• Adhere to safety policies and reporting requirements.
