Job summary

Allied Universal in Charleston, SC seeks a Correctional Security Officer - Armed to protect government facilities and assist with access control, patrols, and incident response. The role requires an armed guard card, a valid driver's license, and at least 1 year of law enforcement or security experience; a high school diploma or equivalent is needed.

This is a full-time, on-site position with a pay rate of $18.50 per hour.

Qualifications

Valid driver’s license in the job state.
Armed Guard Card or License required.
Minimum age 21 for armed roles.
Background check required by law.
Drug screen required by law.
Participation in industry-specific security training programs.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to facility staff, visitors, and authorized individuals by following site-specific procedures, access-control requirements, and emergency response activities.
Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, perimeter areas, entry points, and other designated locations to identify and report unusual conditions or unauthorized activity.
Monitor access points and verify authorization for individuals entering or leaving designated areas according to corrections facility procedures.
Respond to incidents, disturbances, alarms, and critical situations calmly and professionally; notify appropriate personnel and document events.
Complete accurate activity logs, incident reports, and other required documentation while communicating observations to Allied Universal leadership and site contacts.
