Job summary

Matrix New World Engineering, part of True Environmental, seeks a Groundwater Modeler / Hydrogeologist to join our Phoenix, AZ team. You will build and calibrate groundwater models, support regulatory compliance, and contribute to CSM development for water resources and environmental projects.

The role requires 3 years of modeling experience (or 6 with a BA), RG in AZ or eligibility, and strong Python/ArcGIS Pro skills. Expect collaboration with sub-consultants and PMs on multi-project work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree or 6 years with a Bachelor’s in groundwater modeling or hydrogeology/water resources/environmental consulting
• Registered Geologist (RG) in Arizona or eligible to obtain AZ registration within 24 months
• Hands-on proficiency with MODFLOW, MT3D, FEFLOW, GMS or ModelMuse GUIs
• Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and PYTHON; MS Office suite
• Extensive groundwater modeling experience in Arizona and the arid Southwestern U.S.
• Strong technical writing and communication for reports and deliverables
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently and in teams

Responsibilities

• Build, calibrate, and apply numerical groundwater flow and solute transport models under senior staff guidance.
• Perform sensitivity, uncertainty, and predictive analyses for water resources and remediation projects.
• Compile and manage spatial and subsurface datasets to support CSM development.
• Assist with ADEQ permitting programs such as APP and AZPDES.
• Support AWS applications with aquifer impact analyses including mounding and contaminant mobilization.
• Develop MAR/ASR site analyses and related aquifer investigations.
• Draft technical reports, memos, figures, and appendices for deliverables.
• Support Project Managers with cost estimation, proposals, and task management.
• Coordinate with project teams, sub-consultants, and lab personnel to ensure on-time delivery.
