Job summary

Walk of Life Residential Care is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a California residential setting. DSPs assist with daily living, mobility, medications, and activities, while documenting progress and maintaining safety.

We offer full-time and part-time roles across AM, PM, and NOC shifts, with training and opportunities for certification.

Qualifications

• 18+ years of age with CA driver’s license or CA ID.
• Background checks including fingerprinting, TB screening, training, and orientation.
• 1 year caregiving experience preferred in Adult Residential Facility.
• CPR/First Aid certification or within 30 days of hire.
• CPI certification encouraged; DSP1 or DSP2 preferred.
• Able to lift 30 lbs and move up to 100 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Model positive interactions and support individuals in daily living tasks.
• Follow program plans and implement behavior modification techniques.
• Assist with mobility, self-help skills, and medication documentation.
• Teach independent living skills: laundry, cleaning, money management.
• Support recreational, educational, and community activities based on interests.
• Provide meal prep and feeding assistance and document daily notes in QuickMar.
• Perform routine housekeeping to maintain a safe, clean living environment.

Walk of Life Residential Care is looking for compassionate, highly reliable, caring, self -starter, punctual, and hard - working Caregivers to join our team of Direct Support Professionals (DSP).

Walk of Life Residential Care is an Adult Residential Facility that provides care and supervision for adults with intellectual, developmental, or cognitive disabilities. Our team provide support to residential clients in activities of daily living, encourages individual choices, self-advocacy, interpersonal communication skills, problem solving abilities, money management skills, and community integration. The goal of the DSP is to focus on enriching the life of everyone they support.

Primary Duties:

• Function as a role model and encourage positive interactions with others.
• Become familiar with the program plan for everyone in the facility.
• Understand behavior modification techniques and how to correctly implement them.
• Understand and assist individuals in exercises designed to improve or maintain, mobility range of motion and self-help skills.
• Document incidents that occur and maintain current progress notes and data frequency counts on each client assigned to them.
• Work with individuals to encourage positive choices and behaviors.
• Teach individuals independent living skills, including laundry, cleaning, and money management.
• Encourage, plan and facilitate recreational outings, educational and community event opportunities based on individual's interests.
• Assist individuals in all areas of bathing/showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, personal and oral hygiene skills.
• Assist in medication administration, monitoring and ensure proper documentation of such.
• Assist individuals safely transfer in and out of beds or wheelchairs.
• Assist in meal preparation and feeding assistance to individuals where necessary.
• Enter individuals' daily activities, behaviors and shift notes in QuickMar.
• Perform routine housekeeping chores such as sweeping, dusting, mopping, disinfecting surfaces, cleaning bathrooms, take out trash, washing dishes, and launder clothes and linens to maintain a safe, clean living environment for the individuals and staff.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• At least 18 years of age and holds a valid California Driver’s License or California ID; capable of driving a mobility van.
• Complete pre-employment background checks, including fingerprinting, physical, TB screening, in-house training, and orientation,.
• 1-year caregiving experience preferred in an Adult Residential Facility working with residents with intellectual, developmental, or cognitive disabilities.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• CPR/First Aid Certification (or within 30 days of hire date - company paid).
• DSP 1 or DSP 2, preferred, DSP 1 Certification within 12-months of hire date (company paid).
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) Certification (company paid).
• Ability to lift 30lbs and move up to 100lbs.

We have flexible schedules, full-time and part-time for AM, PM and NOC shifts:

AM shift: 6:30AM - 2:30PM

PM shift: 2:30PM - 10:30PM

NOC shift: 10:30PM - 6:30AM
