GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific store area and overall store operations when acting as Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the store, supervise associates, and ensure a friendly, easy-to-shop environment, maintaining proper merchandise presentation and cleanliness. They also execute and supervise company operational processes as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
  • Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors in all tasks.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment, reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Secure the building, including controlling entrances/exits, checking EAS devices, and managing security of cash areas.
  • Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Ensure customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems and respond to after-hours alarms as needed.
Customer Service:
  • Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism consistently.
Personal and Store Brand:
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance per dress code and ensure associates do the same.
  • Keep the store clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Manage daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards through teaching and follow-up.
  • Handle merchandise receiving and processing with urgency.
  • Maintain organization of stockrooms.
  • Assist with merchandise placement and back-stock management.
  • Reduce loss due to damage and ensure adherence to presentation guidelines.
  • Manage floor moves and signage, including promotional displays.
Loss Prevention:
  • Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintaining a visible presence on the sales floor.
  • Safeguard confidential information and merchandise.
  • Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
  • Implement best practices to maximize productivity and minimize theft.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
  • Ensure front-end standards are met, including customer flow and checkout efficiency.
  • Train and coach associates on POS systems and policies.
  • Manage break schedules and equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure merchandise go-backs and security tagging are performed correctly.
Fitting Rooms:
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
  • Audit and manage garment tags and merchandise returns.
Administrative Duties:
  • Handle cash pulls, deposits, and control procedures.
  • Assist with payroll and scheduling as directed by the Store Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with POS equipment and applications.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, lift, and reach as needed, including lifting over 25 lbs. Some roles may require pushing, pulling, and other physical tasks.
