General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is part of Store Leadership, responsible for a specific area of the Store, general operations, and supervision when acting as Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing, supervise Associates, ensure a friendly shopping environment, maintain merchandise presentation, and uphold cleanliness. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.

Essential Functions

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments

• Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors.
• Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure security and safety for all.
• Handle building security, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, Cash Office security, and other security measures.
• Remove clutter, ensure clear egress, and respond to alarms and safety issues.

Customer Service

• Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
• Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize Associates appropriately.

Personal and Store Brand

• Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
• Maintain professional appearance and ensure all Associates do the same.
• Keep store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
• Handle daily trash removal.

General Merchandising

• Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns follow standards.
• Receive merchandise trucks, process merchandise promptly, and organize stockrooms.
• Assist with merchandise placement and back stock management.
• Follow presentation guidelines and manage signage and floor moves.

Loss Prevention

• Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a security presence, and safeguard assets.
• Maintain PVM system, conduct package inspections, and execute best practices to maximize productivity.

Front End Supervision and Operations

• Ensure front-end standards, manage customer lines, and train associates on registers and policies.
• Control break schedules, equipment checks, and merchandise salability.

Fitting Rooms

• Maintain cleanliness, audit tags, and ensure return compliance.

Administrative Duties

• Handle cash pulls, deposits, and payroll tasks as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

• Excellent verbal communication, fluency in English.
• Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
• Familiarity with POS systems, basic math skills.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements/ADA

Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and lift up to 25 lbs regularly; push/pull more than 25 lbs occasionally. Stockroom associates must lift over 20 lbs regularly.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Retail Associates, Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
