GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for specific store areas and overall store operations when acting as Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the store, supervise associates, ensure merchandise presentation, and maintain a clean environment. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors.
- Maintain awareness to ensure a safe shopping environment; report unsafe conditions.
- Ensure security of the building, including entrances/exits, EAS devices, cash office, and security procedures.
- Remove clutter and ensure clear emergency exits.
- Protect customer safety, report accidents, and follow emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms.
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate professionalism and recognize associates' efforts.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the company brand.
- Maintain a professional appearance and enforce dress code.
- Keep store areas clean and well-maintained.
- Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards.
- Manage merchandise receipt, processing, and organization.
- Reduce damage-related loss and comply with presentation guidelines.
- Manage floor moves, signage, and re-wraps.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain presence, and safeguard assets.
- Demonstrate integrity and protect confidential information.
- Maintain PVM system and conduct inspections.
- Maximize productivity while minimizing steps.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Ensure front end standards and manage customer flow.
- Train and coach associates on registers and policies.
- Control break schedules and equipment functionality.
- Maintain supplies and ensure proper merchandise scanning and security.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and proper tagging of fitting rooms.
- Ensure merchandise compliance and security tagging.
Administrative Duties:
- Conduct cash pulls and deposits according to policy.
- Manage front end controls, payroll, and other duties assigned by the Store Manager.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems.
- Basic math skills.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, and lift up to 25 lbs regularly. Stockroom work may require lifting over 20 lbs.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises retail associates and stockroom leads where applicable.
