GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is a key member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the Store, overseeing general operations and supervising staff when acting as Manager on Duty. They handle opening and closing the Store, supervise Associates, and ensure a friendly, easy-to-shop environment. They maintain proper merchandise presentation and a clean work area, and execute company operational processes as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment; report unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS devices, Cash Office, and other security measures.
- Keep egress clear of clutter for emergency exits.
- Ensure customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarms as scheduled and respond to alarms after hours.
Customer Service:
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
- Show courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize Associates through company programs.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain professional appearance per Dress Code; ensure Associates do the same.
- Keep all areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards through coaching and follow-up.
- Assist with receiving merchandise as needed.
- Process merchandise promptly.
- Manage inbound deliveries and maintain organized Stockrooms.
- Help place merchandise on the sales floor.
- Secure and process back-stock according to policy.
- Merchandise the department, including back stock.
- Reduce loss due to damage.
- Follow presentation guidelines and manage floor moves/signage.
- Perform re-wraps when necessary.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a strong customer service presence, and engage with Customers and Associates to prevent loss.
- Demonstrate integrity, safeguard confidential info, and maintain PVM system.
- Conduct package inspections and follow all loss prevention best practices.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Ensure Front End operations follow best practices for efficiency.
- Manage line pace and customer wait times.
- Train and coach Associates on registers and policies.
- Control break schedules and ensure equipment functionality.
- Maintain supplies and recovery in the Front End area.
- Manage go-backs, security tagging, and signing.
