GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store, as well as the overall operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They are responsible for opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy-to-shop environment. Additionally, they ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times. The Area Supervisor also executes and supervises Company operational processes as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Understand that safety is the top priority and practice safe behaviors in all activities.
- Maintain high awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment. Correct or report unsafe conditions promptly.
- Ensure building security, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, Cash Office security, and managing armored carrier pickups and register area security.
- Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
- Prioritize Customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after-hours alarms when necessary.
Customer Service:
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism. Recognize Associates using Company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance per Company Dress Code and ensure Associates do the same.
- Keep all Store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed per Company standards through teaching, assigning, and following up.
- Assist with receiving merchandise trucks when needed.
- Process all merchandise with urgency.
- Handle non-merchandise inbound deliveries (signs, supplies, etc.).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of Stockrooms.
- Help deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor post-processing.
- Secure and process back-stock according to Company policy.
- Merchandise the department, including back stock.
- Reduce loss due to damage.
- Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines.
- Manage floor moves and signage, including promotional signage.
- Perform re-wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a strong customer service presence, and stay alert to prevent theft.
- Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
