Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in North Kingstown, RI is seeking an Area Superintendent for department 916 on the Columbia program. The role oversees a designated area, coordinating with internal partners and external customers to deliver quality hull outfitting and modular construction on schedule.

The position emphasizes safety, process improvement, leadership of supervisors, and collaboration across HR and management levels to resolve workforce issues and meet program objectives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience overseeing OSM.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in shipbuilding, manufacturing, construction or relevant field(s).
• Must be available to work all shifts and extended hours as business needs dictate.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense.

Responsibilities

• Management oversight of a designated area for the Columbia program and direct daily activities of multiple operations.
• Achieve department and facility goals, monitor quality and safety, and drive cost/schedule objectives.
• Motivate and train first line supervision and promote employee development.
• Interface with Human Resources to resolve employee issues and promote a positive team environment.
• Coordinate with external customers and internal partners/stakeholders (USN, Groton, Newport News).
• Drive continuous improvement and identify material needs for near-term production events.
