Job summary

Ocean State Job Lot is seeking a Retail Store Area Team Leader (Assistant Team Leader) for our Ledyard/Gales Ferry, CT location. This on-site, full-time role carries a $25–$28 per hour pay range, overtime eligible, and a $3,500 sign-on bonus for external candidates.

You will lead store merchandising, freight and inventory processes, coach teams, and uphold company standards while leveraging technology to improve operations and customer service.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of retail management experience.
• Proficient in Google platform.
• Preferred experience with HCM and BI tools.

Responsibilities

• Support programs to maximize revenue and achieve store goals.
• Lead in the store in the absence of the Store Team Leader.
• Reconcile daily funds per closing procedures.
• Lead freight flow and maintain a 24-hour freight turnaround.
• Leverage technology to optimize scheduling and freight management.
• Partner with Store Leader on inventory and product placement.
• Collaborate on merchandising strategies to drive sales and turnover.
• Monitor freight receipt, inspection, and stocking.
• Recruit, train, and develop store associates.
• Foster a positive, knowledgeable team environment.
• Ensure store meets merchandising, cleanliness, and presentation standards.
• Lead operations with company policies and programs.
• Maintain strong relationships with leadership and field teams.
