Location: Houston, TX or New Orleans, LA (Remote with up to 75% travel along the I-10 corridor)

Collaborates With: Area Vice Presidents – Central & South, Account Managers, and Inside Sales

Position Summary

This strategic role is responsible for launching and executing a scalable business development model focused on calibration services and precision measurement devices (PMD). Reporting directly to the CEO and partnering with the Account Managers, Inside Sales Representative, and Area VPs, the role aims to drive metrology revenue growth across the I-10 corridor between Houston and New Orleans. Success will lay the groundwork for potential national sales leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement territory metrology sales strategies and growth plans.
  • Identify and pursue cross-sell and upsell opportunities to grow existing customer accounts.
  • Drive new customer calibration agreements and achieve revenue and gross profit targets.
  • Collaborate with the Inside Sales Representative to generate leads, schedule appointments, and ensure seamless customer onboarding.
  • Maintain regular collaboration with lab management and the Metrology Quotation desk (MetQ).
  • Support Account Managers in reaching regional metrology sales goals.
  • Align with Area VPs to ensure operational consistency and strategic focus.
  • Report key metrics and insights to the CEO and staff, contributing to sales planning.
  • Build long-term customer relationships and promote Michelli’s full value proposition.

Required Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of successful experience in calibration, metrology, or industrial technical sales.
  • Experience selling services into manufacturing and regulated industries (e.g., chemical, pharma, aerospace, energy).
  • Strong understanding of precision instruments and laboratory calibration services.
  • Self-motivated with a hunter mentality and proven ability to open new accounts.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal sales and technical teams.
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 calibration standards; PMEL experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with CRM, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Residence within the Houston-New Orleans I-10 corridor area with the ability to travel up to 75%.

Success Criteria

  • Year-over-year revenue growth at the calibration laboratories.
  • Ability to cross-sell and convert weighing customers into PMD calibration clients.
  • Effective collaboration with Inside Sales and Area VPs.
  • Expansion of regional customer base and cross-sell revenue.
  • Development of repeatable sales practices for potential national rollout.
