About The Role
Otto Aviation seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer (QE) to support our Safety and Quality Assurance Office. The role involves implementing inspection programs, supporting procedure development, and ensuring quality throughout the flight test vehicle build process, with occasional support for supplier quality initiatives. Opportunities for growth into technical or leadership roles are available.

The Safety and Quality Assurance Office maintains high standards of product safety, compliance, workplace health, and quality throughout the aircraft lifecycle. Operating in a startup environment, the team manages SMS, QMS, EHS, audits, training, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of proactive risk management and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

• Develop and execute internal inspection programs (incoming, in-process, final).
• Support key characteristic identification and verification planning with Engineering.
• Participate in inspection activities during vehicle builds.
• Support metrology activities, including CMM and scanning equipment use.
• Manage NCR system and support corrective actions.
• Maintain quality procedures, including inspection, nonconforming material, and calibration.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues.
• Support supplier quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 2-4 years of quality engineering experience in aerospace or aviation.
• Knowledge of inspection techniques, measurement methods, and standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
• Experience with metrology equipment (CMM, scanning) preferred.
• Experience supporting corrective actions and root cause analysis.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and supplier quality concepts.
• Experience with quality procedures and planning tools (PPAP, APQP, FAI).
• Familiarity with ERP and quality management systems.
• Preferred: Lead Auditor Certification (AS9100/ISO 9001) and ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA).
• Desirable: Experience in flight test vehicles, prototypes, or startups.
• Strong organizational skills and adaptability in a dynamic environment.

Where You'll Be

Otto Aviation is currently remote, with plans for a permanent headquarters in 2-3 years. This position is remote and open to applicants anywhere in the U.S.
