Job summary

Heidelberg Materials North America is seeking a Safety Lead to drive safety initiatives across multiple operations in Illinois and surrounding areas. You will partner with site leaders, perform risk assessments, and coach teams to maintain a safety-first culture across plants, quarries, and offices.

The role requires strong experience in heavy industrial safety, incident investigations, data-driven improvements, and effective communication to all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting safety in aggregates, mining, construction materials, cement, ready-mix, or similar heavy industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices.
• Ability to influence, coach, and build credibility with employees and leaders at all levels.
• Skilled in conducting incident investigations, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and drive measurable improvements in safety performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support safety initiatives across multiple operations to promote a safety-first culture.
• Partner with operational leaders to identify risks, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Deliver training, coaching, and guidance to employees and managers on safety programs, policies, and best practices.
• Analyze safety performance data and develop strategies that reduce risk and improve operational effectiveness.
