Job summary

Heidelberg Materials is seeking an Area Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives across multiple operations in Westchester, IL. You will partner with site leaders to identify risks, conduct inspections, and drive continuous improvements while delivering training on safety programs and best practices.

The role requires strong regulatory knowledge, incident investigation skills, and the ability to influence at all levels.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting safety in aggregates, mining, construction materials, cement, ready-mix, or similar heavy industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices.
• Proven ability to influence, coach, and build credibility with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
• Skilled in conducting incident investigations, identifying root causes, and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
• Effective communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and drive measurable improvements in safety performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support safety initiatives across multiple operations to promote a strong safety-first culture.
• Partner with operational leaders to identify risks, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Deliver training, coaching, and guidance to employees and managers on safety programs, policies, and best practices.
• Analyze safety performance data and develop strategies that reduce risk and improve operational effectiveness.
• Frequent travel within the assigned area to support multiple operations and locations.
